New Delhi, August 25, 2010: MapmyIndia, India’s leader in maps, GPS navigation and location-based services, today announced the launch of India’s first house address maps. An important part of the company’s latest maps release – MapmyIndia Maps Version 5.0 – the house address maps are now available for Delhi NCR and Chandigarh, with more cities to follow. Maps Version 5.0 also includes a large directory of 3 million places as well as highly detailed, street level maps for over 809 cities of India as well as All India coverage connecting, 576,000 towns and villages by over 1 million kilometers of highly accurate, updated and fully navigable highways and road network. Last Mile Navigation Challenge Solved The challenge of road travel in India has always been the last mile – travelers wasted a lot of time trying to find the exact house number, moving round in circles or getting vague and unreliable help from passersby. Given how the unstructured and complex nature of India’s addressing structure, and the lack of street names and road signs, there was no way to get convenient and reliable guidance to the exact house address – until now. With the release of MapmyIndia Maps Version 5.0, MapmyIndia makes possible door-to-door navigation to residential house addresses, as well as to local businesses, offices, apartments and tourist places. So, for example, if you are planning to travel from Gurgaon to your friend’s house warming party in Greater Kailash 2 in South Delhi, you can see the exact house address on a MapmyIndia Navigator loaded with MapmyIndia Maps Version 5.0, and it will guide you turn-by-turn, with clear voice and map instructions to that address, ensuring that your final destination is your friend’s doorstep.

Additional features in MapmyIndia Maps Version 5.0 In Maps Version 5.0, MapmyIndia has added many more features which bring mass appeal to GPS navigation, such as the inclusion of a comprehensive and exhaustive directory of 3 million points of interest across over 52 categories (offices, restaurants, clubs, apartments, hotels, petrol pumps, ATMs etc.) which can be found easily through MapmyIndia’s new intelligent, super-fast, predictive search, which automatically corrects spelling mistakes. For relevant places, MapmyIndia includes phone numbers as well so that users could, for example, find the nearest Chinese restaurant, call ahead to check availability and make a reservation, and then navigate easily to its doorstep. In terms of spoken voice instructions, MapmyIndia has added voice guidance in 8 Indian languages – Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu (Marathi and others will follow soon) – in addition to English and foreign languages, so the MapmyIndia Navigator can communicate to you in the language that you prefer. According to Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia, “We at MapmyIndia consider Maps Version 5.0 to be a significant development for travelers in India as well as the industry. Releasing house address maps for a country as complex as India was a big challenge, both in terms of data as well as technology.
