Locate: Track your friends and family on the go

Moving beyond the regular suite of free maps, directions and local search apps on multiple mobile platforms, we are expanding into the LBS space by launching a friends and family tracking app called Locate.

Knowing where your loved ones are at any point of time has always been a tricky concern for all of us. We are making an effort to ease some of that stress with Locate. Available on Android, Windows Phone and as a Mobile Website, the app helps you do the following –

• Add up-to ten people from your contact list or via a phone number and email address
• Once your request is approved, you can track your friend or family’s movement live on an interactive map as they check-in. You also see how far those people are radially from your current location
  
• Locations are automatically updated without draining phone battery even if users don’t manually check-in
• Location is cached locally when phone does not have GPRS connectivity. It is updated as soon as data connection is back
• See historical movement reports up to five days with full address mapping
  
• Your own movement reports are provided by default
• All reports are accessible via a web dashboard as well at https://locate.mapmyindia.com
• The app gets a personal touch when people you are tracking upload their pictures and real names, thus making it easier for you to read reports or see real-time movement
