ahead!”

So what makes the car ‘Talk’

Autonomous (& Safe) – MapmyIndia’s ADAS (advanced driving assistance system) & technologies deliver a safer and accident-free drive. It is not just aware of the current location, the surroundings, the path but also of any upcoming obstacle/danger, prompting the driver well in advance to take preventive action. In case of an emergency like the driver not being able to apply brakes in time, the system can communicate to the vehicle to autonomously apply brakes.

The vehicle is equipped with self-diagnostic capabilities. It can monitor its health, part failure, predictive maintenance and battery parameters. Thanks to diagnostics IoT your car can as well complain, “Have been due for service since a week. The performance is going down. Gotta visit XYZ Motors this coming Sunday?”

Shared (& Economical) – Shared mobility or ‘Mobility as a service’ makes sense – cost effective, energy-efficient, environment-friendly, etc. – and it is inevitable. The next wave of growth in the automotive segment may not come from retail sales, but from fleet sales.

Changing mindsets will force automakers to adapt and modify their product offerings. Millennials view mobility/travel as a service and are not bothered with asset/vehicle ownership.

This is a great opportunity for app-based taxi-hailing/bus shuttle services, travel solutions providers, etc. But this may lead traditional OEMs into the trap of commoditisation.

tech-first companies) to create credible service differentiation. The offering should be high on experience, as efficiency, speed and accuracy would be hygiene. Just like business class travelers in an airline.
